Origins:

Hiatus therapy services began in 2016, emerging from many years of rigorous training and professional practice in counselling, psychotherapy, and adult psychosocial education. Since then, the service has grown into a respected and trusted space for therapeutic work. Its ethos is rooted in professionalism, ethical practice, and a deep respect for each person’s lived experience.

My therapeutic approach:

I am a BACP member and state regulated practitioner with advanced training and postgraduate qualifications including an MA in psychological therapies, counselling and psychotherapy practice, counselling psychology, advanced and educational psychology, psychiatry, adult education, learning and development, professional coaching, cognitive behavioural therapy and mental‑health practice. My clinical work integrates therapeutic intervention, psychosocial formulation and reflective practice. The approach is grounded in ethical rigour, psychological depth and a relationally attuned stance that supports accurate assessment and meaningful therapeutic change.

Professional Background:

My clinical and educational expertise has contributed to BBC documentary work, and I have delivered training and accreditation for organisations including the mental health charity MIND, the Department for Work and Pensions, and the National Open College Network. Across these settings, I enhanced psychological understanding, strengthened reflective capacity, and supported individuals and professionals to engage with mental health provision in more structured, meaningful, and purposeful ways.

Client groups:

I work with adults seeking sustained psychological change, particularly where presentations are complex, longstanding or unresponsive to brief or surface‑level interventions. Many of my clients present at a point of recognising the need for deeper exploration, whether to understand the deeper patterns shaping their lives, integrate historical experiences or re‑establish purpose and direction.

Areas of focus:

• Grief, loss and bereavement.

• Occupational stress and burnout.

• Anxiety and depressive conditions.

• Addictive and compulsive behaviours.

• Recurrent relational or behavioural patterns.

• Life transitions, stagnation and loss of meaning.

• Trauma and post‑traumatic stress presentations.

• Online or in-personal financial or romantic scams.

• Anger management and shame-based behaviours.
